FAQ

How are Social Security payment days grouped?

Most recipients are paid on a Wednesday based on the day of the month they were born: 1–10 (2nd Wednesday), 11–20 (3rd Wednesday), 21–31 (4th Wednesday).

What does “paid on the 3rd” mean?

Some recipients are paid on the 3rd of the month. SSA notes this includes people who received Social Security before May 1997 and people who receive both Social Security and SSI (Social Security on the 3rd, SSI on the 1st).

What happens if my payment date is a weekend or holiday?

Payments generally move earlier to the nearest prior business day when the scheduled date is not a normal business day (weekend or federal holiday).

Do you store my information?

No. The calculator runs in your browser. We do not ask for SSN or full date of birth, and we do not store your inputs on our servers.

What if my payment is late?

SSA advises allowing three additional mailing days before contacting them if you don’t receive your payment on the expected date.
