This page explains how we create and maintain content on WhenIsMyCheck, including calculators, calendars, FAQs, and educational articles.
Because payment schedules relate to personal finances (a “Your Money or Your Life” topic), we treat accuracy and clarity as top priorities.
1) Accuracy and scope
We describe standard payment schedule rules and clearly label verified schedules vs. rules-based estimates for years not yet published by SSA.
We do not provide individualized financial advice. If you need official confirmation, consult SSA directly.
- Tools are informational only
- No guarantees of availability, timing, or amount
- Not a substitute for SSA notices
2) Sources
We prioritize primary sources from SSA. Where a topic involves broader consumer guidance (for example, avoiding scams), we link to official government resources when possible.
- SSA publications and official pages
- Official SSA account and contact pages
3) Review process
Content is written to be understandable for older adults and non-technical users. Before publishing, we check that:
(a) rules are described consistently across pages, (b) date logic matches the calculator outputs, and (c) pages include appropriate disclaimers and links to official sources.
- Plain-English writing
- Accessibility-first layout and headings
- Cross-checking date logic with the calculator
4) Corrections
If we discover an error, we correct it and update the “Last updated” date. When the correction affects a calendar year page, we also update any relevant notes on that page.
To report an issue, include: the year, the month, the payment type (SSI/Social Security), and what you believe is incorrect.
- We investigate reports promptly
- We prefer reproducible reports with specifics
5) Conflicts of interest and ads
The site may display advertising (e.g., Google AdSense). Ads do not influence our calendar logic or educational content.
We avoid misleading claims and do not accept payments to change schedules or promote unofficial “shortcuts.”
- Ads are separated from results
- No sponsored changes to date logic
6) Use of automation or AI
We may use automation to draft outlines or check formatting, but the final content is reviewed for clarity and consistency.
If you use this project with generative tools, keep a human review step before publishing.
